Travel Player Evaluations

As the Spring 2025 season draws to an end, it is time for SVSA Travel Player Evaluations for the Fall 2025/Spring 2026 seasons.  All evaluations will be held at Graham Park.  The schedule for evaluations is below.

*All players must register for SVSA 2025 Fall Travel at
www.svsasoccer.org prior to attending a travel player evaluation session.*

Check-in will occur at the Concession Stand at Graham Park
.   Players should arrive 15-30 minutes prior to your evaluation time for check-in.  Please, be patient with registration personnel as lines can be long at times.

All players must wear proper soccer attire, including shin guards.  No jewelry allowed.  Players should bring water with them. Players will be assigned an evaluation number and provided a "sticker" to wear during evaluations.

It is recommended that players attend 2 evaluation sessions.  It is mandatory to attend one session to solidify a spot on a travel team for the Fall season.  If a player cannot make it to the evaluations, they will be put on the wait list.  Once players who attended the evaluations are placed on teams, the wait listed players will be considered.

NEW SVSA Travel players must email a copy of their Birth Certificate or Passport and a picture (headshot) to [email protected]NO BIRTH CERTIFICATES OR PICTURES WILL BE ACCEPTED AT THE FIELD.

Team building based on the evaluations will work as follows:

1.       U9/U10 teams play 7v7 with a maximum roster of 12 players.

2.       U11/U12 teams play 9v9 with a maximum roster of 16 players.

3.       U13 and older teams play 11v11 with a maximum roster of 20 players.

SVSA makes every effort to field teams in different travel divisions.  For this reason, the travel evaluations are extremely important to ensure players are placed on teams in the proper division.  While we do consider coaching and teammate requests for travel teams, there is no guaranteed placement until the evaluations are complete.  Travel Division basic descriptions are:

·         Division 4 Highest level of Travel soccer.  Teams have a combination of Competitive (e.g. – Classic) & very skilled players.  Teams have a relatively high understanding of team structure.

·         Division 5 – Middle level of Travel soccer.  Teams may have some very skilled players (most will be moderately skilled players) or be experienced teams.

·         Division 6 – Lowest level of Travel soccer.  Teams normally have moderately skilled and developing players.  Teams are normally new to travel soccer or are continuing to develop team structure.

Players wishing to play-up a division must be evaluated with that division.  Playing up 2 divisions will not be permitted.  Play-ups are only granted by the SVSA Travel Commissioners and SVSA Board.  All players will not be granted play-up status.  Roster spots will be given to true age group players before play-up players.

U10 Travel is recommended for true U10 players; however, we will evaluate U9 players and place them on U10 Travel Teams if we feel they are ready for that level of competition.   U9/U10 players who are not placed on a Travel team will be recommended for In-House.

U10 Classic Academy (SCS, Beadling,Century Steel, etc.) players must be evaluated to play Travel and are NOT permitted to play In-House.

Players accepting spots on Travel Teams will be required to complete registration and payment by July 15th.  It takes the registrars several weeks to ensure all teams are properly declared and the rosters are submitted to the State Office for acceptance and activation.  This deadline ensures Travel teams have their completed rosters prior to the Fall pre-season tournament in Plum.
